NICK SOLAN
After accidentally joining a photography class to get an easy A in high school of freshman year and thinking I would not like the class, after taking thousands of pictures, after writing three feature film and ideas constantly flowing with endless short films stories, after creating a business and great reputation for myself, after 10 years of experience in photography and film, I am here to say hello and show you my work.
Photography
I joined a photography class my freshman year of high school because I thought it would get me an easy A in a class and it was the best class I ever had. It made me want to capture images and make them my own. I evolved with my editing and different styles over time. Each picture, each party, each event, are all edited to match the feel and mood. The harshness, the darkness, the softness, the yellows and blues all are different to each event. After taking images, the next thing that caught my eye was making images move.
Film
I found a fascination with moving images… taking an object or person and placing them in a beautiful location with an ominous background and atmosphere. The odd questions of how it or they got there are not for me. I don't have the answer. The small story it tells is beyond me.
I became looking to capture moving images with music and sound and editing them together to give off a feeling or mood. These small fragments lead me to an idea for a story to write.
Writing
Fragments of an idea flow. They come together when they need to. The story his there, you just have to put the pieces together.
The constant agitation with the creative parts of my brain lead me to create my first story, Sweet Dreams. From February to October of 2017, 92 pages later, I was done. Years later with 15+ stories, long and short, I still continue to be imaginative. I see every detail when I create a scene. The costumes, the lighting, the color off the walls and the cadence of their speech, instantly erupts and I have to write it down. The ideas never stop. The images that appear to me are amazing and the potential is there to tell amazing stories.
